3. User-Generated Content
You retain full ownership of any content you submit to FriendsBook, including book reviews, notes, comments, and profile information ("User Content").
By submitting User Content, you grant FriendsBook a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, display, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.
You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to all User Content you submit, and that such content does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
4. Third-Party Book Metadata
Book covers, titles, descriptions, author names, and other bibliographic information displayed on FriendsBook are sourced from the Google Books API and other publicly available sources. This metadata is the intellectual property of their respective copyright holders (publishers, authors, etc.).
FriendsBook displays this information under fair use principles and applicable API terms of service for the purpose of helping users identify and manage their personal book collections. We make no claim of ownership over any third-party book metadata.
5. Prohibited Content
You may not post, upload, or share content that:
- Infringes or violates any third party's copyright, trademark, patent, or other intellectual property rights
- Contains unauthorised reproductions of copyrighted text, images, or other protected material
- Distributes pirated books, illegal digital copies, or unlicensed eBook files
- Misrepresents the origin or authorship of any content
- Violates any applicable law or regulation relating to intellectual property
6. Book Lending & Physical Copies
FriendsBook is a platform for lending and sharing physical book copies between friends. We do not support, encourage, or facilitate the distribution of unauthorised digital copies of books. The act of lending a physical book you legally own is generally permitted under the doctrine of first sale / exhaustion in most jurisdictions.
7. Copyright Infringement (DMCA) Notice
If you believe that content on FriendsBook infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to our designated agent containing:
- Your name, address, telephone number, and email address
- A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
- A description of where the infringing material is located on our platform (URL or sufficient detail to identify it)
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf
- Your physical or electronic signature

9. Repeat Infringers
FriendsBook will terminate the accounts of users who are found to be repeat infringers of intellectual property rights, in accordance with applicable law and our Terms of Service.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Content & Copyright Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
